Charity Challenge - Week 3 Night 2
Welcome back to Night 2 of Week 3 in the O’Sullivan Family Charity Challenge. We’re raising money for the Center of Addiction and Mental health and we’d very much appreciate your support! If you’d like to donate you can do so here.
The Choice
Things are starting to get dire for me. My call of Dominion yesterday did not work out as planned and while we had fun I’m losing-this-week away from the worst concession of the Trophy in the 5 year history of the Charity Challenge.
So tonight I need to pick a game I’m very confident that I can win. During the COVID-19 lockdowns and time of physical distancing I’ve been playing a lot of games on Board Game Arena and doing tournaments with the Toronto Board Gamers, and recently I was crowned the Kingdomino champion.
So tonight, we’re playing Kingdomino!
The Game
In Kingdomino players are drafting dominos to build a kingdom. Some dominos give points, while others simply expand your land. This is a fun family game that I strongly suggest everyone should have on a shelf! Here’s the official description of the game:
In Kingdomino, you are a lord seeking new lands in which to expand your kingdom. You must explore all the lands, including wheat fields, lakes, and mountains, in order to spot the best plots, while competing with other lords to acquire them first.
The game uses tiles with two sections, similar to Dominoes. Each turn, each player will select a new domino to connect to their existing kingdom, making sure at least one of its sides connects to a matching terrain type already in play. The order of who picks first depends on which tile was previously chosen, with better tiles forcing players to pick later in the next round. The game ends when each player has completed a 5×5 grid (or failed to do so), and points are counted based on number of connecting tiles and valuable crown symbols.

The Result
Guys, I beat Rachel so bad she was angry with the game. We actually kept playing after I had closed out the win on this one so she could fix some of the errors from her tournament games.
We decided to do a best of three and I closed out the win in two games: 91-22 and 62-32 in my favour gave me the Night 2 victory!
I’ve got a lot more winning I need to do this week, but that’s a good start to turning things around! See you tomorrow…
