Charity Challenge - Week 3 Night 3

We’ve reached the mid point of the Charity Challenge! Thank you all for following along and participating with us this year!

We’re currently at $355 of our $600 goal! Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, and to Aunt Barbara for donating since our last update! if you’d like to donate you can do so here.

The Choice

Since I won Kingdomino on Night 2 the ball is in Rachel’s court for game selection tonight. She’s gone with a game that we’re pretty close to 50/50 on, but I’d say I might even have a slight edge. When asked about this she was very smug and confident about her two week to zero week lead. So tonight we’ll be playing for fun, and we’ll be playing Ticket to Ride, Nordic Countries!

The Game

Ticket to Ride is a really fun game that we all enjoy, but it typically doesn’t play amazingly well for two players, but Nordic Countries solves that. The map and routes are designed specifically with 2 and 3 player configurations in mind.

If you don’t know what Ticket to Ride is it’s an insanely popular game built around collecting sets of cards to build train routes across a map. As you play you will collect destination tickets, and completing the routes on those tickets will get you points. But be careful, if you don’t finish your tickets you will get minus points.

The Result

I was worried that Rachel’s show boating was going to pay off. For the first 3/4’s of the game she was clearly out ahead – she was making longer train routes that we were netting her more points. By the end of the game however, before we counted up our route bonuses, we were basically tied. So it was going to come down to who had the most valuable routes, and after much back and fourth counting I emerged victorious!

These guys are cheering for me!

Hopefully this win slows Rachel’s momentum and I can close out the week with a win tomorrow. See you then!
